Grand Staircase Escalante
A desert friendship. This modestly scaled far-off grid project is cradled on three sides by the largest national monument in the United States. The stunning and unique property was purchased during the good ole days, when a small posse of young graduates could actually afford such a feat. Many moons, cocktails and fond memories have imbued this place with emotional significance. Now with retirement clearly in sight, the long time friends took their slice of heaven to the next level.
Constructed of concrete block, steel, wood, glass and love, the simple space is built to last generations with minimal upkeep. The cabin's design is a thoughtful response to its context and inhabitants - nail the view, control the sun, open the floor plan and create an opportunity to bathe under the stars.
We can’t imagine a better place to relax and enjoy the desert.
