no none sense design for a remote cabin in the red rock landscape

Location : San Juan County, Utah

Space : 2,400 Square Feet

Completion : 2022

Contractor : Triple J Construction

Nestling along a natural sandstone outcropping, the building site affords maximum protection from the harsh yet awe inspiring environment.

Three simple structures delineate function of this desert house - a detached garage to the west to block the harsh setting sun, a cozy and intimate primary suite to the east for accepting the rising sun, and the tall and proud central great room of kitchen, dining and living spaces.

With perfectly planned overhangs, the roof structure is multifunctional - not only providing solar shading for interior spaces of the home, it doubles as a walk-out patio protected from the elements and triples as a roof deck for stargazing. The roof is really the fourth bedroom - a tent spot for your more adventurous guests.

Bookworms at heart and knowledge seekers by trade, built-in cabinetry offers plenty of shelving space to stack their favorite yarn or reference the formations of time spent elsewhere.
